Maidens Midrealm Site Information

As part of my new years resolutions (and I will be posting them here shortly)- I realized I did not like not being well informed. I hated being in a new kingdom, and not knowing the ins or outs, as well as the details concerning the events. That's when I decided to take things into my own hands :-)

I emailed the next event I had on my calendar (Maidens), and asked both the châtelaine and the autocrat basic questions that I figured new people and veterans alike would appreciate.

There are tons of guides out there for newbies- but not very many for people old to the SCA, but new to a kingdom. That is why I tailored my questions for those not necessarily new to the SCA, but might be new to an event.

I will do 1 of these for every event I attend this year. (Yep- That is one of my New Years Resolutions)

After I go to each event- I am going to write a little review. Synopsis if you will, of my opinions, observations, ext. Pulling in the years of experience I had as an entertainment reviewer in college, I want to write something up that can be a reminder to ourselves, noting if we felt the event was entertaining or not.

Don't get me wrong, I am not going to post things like "Bad Event" " Don't Go" or "Best Event of the Year". Everyone's opinions on what are good, bad, fun, boring, ext vary greatly. What I will be doing is posting things like "Small Hall, leave the benches at home", "Lack of water faucets, bring bottle watered", or "Lot's of down time, bring projects to share." I don't mean to be derogatory to any group or event- I simply want to record my feelings about the site, event, activities, etc. just so I can get a better understanding of what makes the kingdom tick. In the process hopefully it will become of use to others like me; someone who hasn't been to that particular event, and might miss the information the "regulars" consider common knowledge.....
